The
wonder of the old Pageville schoolhouse resting,
now, on the bluff above the Big Hole River,
is its element of surprise. Seeing it from
the road, or walking toward it on the gravel
path, the simple gray lines give pleasure
with a hint of nostalgia. Open the doors and
the floor to ceiling mahogany bookcases, teak
floor, marble fireplace are as unexpected
as they are stunning.
Years ago when I asked Ken what was left of
the original schoolhouse, he pointed to the
outside brick surround at the bottom of the
steps. "That's it," he said. Those
who don't know Ken would be skeptical of the
claim. It is so perfect sometimes even I don't
believe it was rebuilt.

We
have known Ken Ryder personally and professionally
for many years. Ken is a very well respected
builder in town, therefore, when the opportunity
came our way in 1998 to rebuild a 1920’s
craftsman style home in Bozeman’s coveted
historic district, we jumped at the chance to
work with him on the project.
We found Ken to be extremely pleasant to work
with. He has a can do positive attitude, excellent
record keeping skills, Ken is very professional,
great with subcontractors and made the whole
project a wonderful experience. We have enjoyed
living in our home since May 1999 and everyone
who sees it comments on the quality of craftsmanship.
As real estate developers for 25 years, we have
built many buildings and homes and our experience
with Ken Ryder was one of the very best ever.
We highly recommend him to anyone who wants
to build a quality home.
Sincerely,
Ileana Indreland

Working
with Ken was an enormous pleasure. He has built
two houses for me and what could have been a
formidable experience turned out to be gratifying
in all ways. He has very high standards
for his work and employs top quality subcontractors
whose work reflects his standards. He
keeps a close eye on his projects and is quick
to spot and solve problems. He is responsive
and reliable and a hands on manager.
Aside form being an excellent contractor, Ken
is sensitive to the needs/quirks of his clients
and is even tempered and always good-natured.
His personal investment in all of his
projects provides top quality results. My
recommendation is unqualified.
